a phrasebook, charted
Your own map of Brazilian Portuguese — one island of phrases at a time.
No islands yet — tap ➕ New island below to add your first one.
Checking available voices…
macOS: System Settings → Accessibility → Read & Speak (search "speech" in Spotlight if you can't find it) → download a Portuguese (Brazil) voice marked "Enhanced" or "Premium".
Windows: Settings → Time & Language → Speech → Manage voices → add Portuguese (Brazil).
Works in any browser once installed.
iOS / iPadOS (Chrome, Safari, or any other browser): this isn't a Chrome-specific gap — every browser on iOS is required by Apple to use the same underlying engine, so they all sound the same here. Downloading an Enhanced or Premium voice under Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices won't help either — Apple only exposes the basic default system voice to web pages, not downloaded ones. There's currently no way to get a better voice from a web page on iOS; when no good voice is available, this app falls back to streaming Google's Translate audio instead.
Adding a card auto-suggests a Portuguese translation you can edit. Drag a card's ⠿ handle to reorder it, or drop it onto another island's header to move it there. Drag an island's own ⠿ handle to reorder the islands themselves.
Swap in a different Language Islands spreadsheet (.xlsx), or export your current deck as one to back it up or share it.
Import note: cards that match an island name and exact English/Portuguese text from your current deck keep their known/learning status. Anything new starts unmarked, and cards that no longer exist are dropped.
Progress saves automatically as you go.
Wipes every island, card, and progress record — a true blank slate. Export a backup first if there's anything worth keeping.
